The New Mexico Land Grant Council is an agency of state government administratively attached to the New Mexico Department of Finance and Administration. It was founded in 2009 by statute and provides support to 24 land grants-mercedes in New Mexico recognized as units of government (political subdivisions of the state). It also serves as a liaison between mercedes and other state agencies and the federal government. The Council consists of five members appointed by the Governor. (See About us.)
The next meeting of the NM Land Grant Council will be held on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at New Mexico Highlands University in Las Vegas, NM at 10:00 a.m. The meeting will be held in Room 211 of the New Student Union Building which is located on the Northwest corner of National Ave & 8th Street. Community Land Grants that are political sub-divisions of the State of New Mexico are eligible to receive support under this program.
